Giuseppe Manini is still a boy when one day, going down to the yard to get his bicycle, he notices that the gate has been left open and the rack is empty. This fact ignites a spark in him: why not create an automatic system to close the gates? He then takes a cylinder, a piston and a rubber hose that he connects to the condominium water, opens the tap and, as if by magic, the gate closes. From this first rudimentary automation system, Manini then developed the famous oleodynamic system, which in 1965 led to the birth of FAAC and the history of automations. For gates and beyond.
Between the 1970s and 1980s, from fine craftsmanship, production became an industrial process capable of maintaining high quality standards. The 402 hydraulic actuator is the first product to be created through mass production. The first branches were born, which, directly connected to the central plant, ensured the dissemination of products.
With the development of electronics, a new era begins for FAAC products. In fact, microprocessor electronic boards are born, allowing the creation of systems that go far beyond the Open/Close control! The introduction of electromechanical products expands the range and the user base: cheaper technology without sacrificing the quality standard. In parallel, ideas continue to be protected with a long list of patents.
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is born. This reduces the size of electronic boards and all products containing them. BUS 2easy, a two-wire system for dialogue between boards and accessories, is added, allowing for extremely easy installation of the system and its peripherals. The introduction of 3D CAD accelerates all prototyping and tooling processes for components.
24V technology is implemented, which enables greater motor control and perfectly meets new safety regulations. By equipping the hydraulic actuator with 24V technology, the recent HYBRID product range is born: performance and safety are now one product. The topic of energy saving is not yet at the door when, thanks to the CYCLO Patent, the highest efficiency of a gearmotor is achieved with lower consumption. Thus was born the concept that will drive the near future: SAFE & GREEN, later applied to 230V as well.
The massive and repetitive experience of industrial production no longer responds optimally to the demand for increasingly customized products. FAAC therefore adopts the TOYOTA SYSTEM. Its production lines become ONE PIECE FLOW: now each product is followed through its entire assembly process in a single cycle, all to the benefit of greater flexibility, improved quality and increased production capacity. With this in mind, logistics flows are also being revised: small warehouses distributed throughout the territory are being replaced by large units capable of storing more products and fulfilling requests quickly.
